JOSEPH
Many well know the story of this man. Here is the story in a poetic form. Starting in Genesis 37.
JOSEPH
I, Jacob lived in the land
Of my father’s sojournings,
In the land of Canaan a land of yearnings
And these are the generations
That came from my loins
From the wives that I had joined
Why do I mention Joseph first,
Being only seventeen years old?
Before I mention the brothers far worse?
Because that was where Gods favor rested
On the one whose life was tested
This tale is from Genesis in the Bible
And meant to help you see
That Gods hand is in all we do
If we let Him work, it will become our legacy
He was the first boy of my favorite girl
But the Lord had taken her young
While having our youngest son
You see, after many years of married life
She was finally able to be a mom and wife
And was so excited with the coming
Of our second of boys
Oh those days were such times of rejoice
She did not get to much hold the babe
For she expired that very day
And it just about broke my heart
I didn’t even know how to again start
I’m so grateful for
Bilhah and Zilpah my other wives.
They well cared for me and these boys lives
One day Joseph was pasturing
The flock with his brothers.
And that day Joseph tattled on
His ten older brothers to me
You know, it got them really rattled
Now I, Israel did love Joseph far more
Than any other of my sons,
Why?
Well, I do admit it with a sigh…
Probably because he was the son
Of my favorite one,
For she was my first choice
But that’s a different story of great rejoice
-
I made Joseph a robe of many colors
And Well…that day when his brothers
Saw that I favored and loved him more
They hated it and couldn’t speak to him
For they were very jealous and so grim
To be continued: meanwhile go ahead and read Genesis 37:
“And Jacob dwelt in the land of his father’s sojournings, in the land of Canaan. These are the generations of Jacob. Joseph, being seventeen years old, was feeding the flock with his brethren; and he was a lad with the sons of Bilhah, and with the sons of Zilpah, his father’s wives: and Joseph brought the evil report of them unto their father. Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age: and he made him a coat of many colors. And his brethren saw that their father loved him more than all his brethren; and they hated him, and could not speak peaceably unto him. And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it to his brethren: and they hated him yet the more.”
Genesis 37:1-5
